The
JU PERCUSSION GROUP (JPG), the
first professional percussion ensemble in Taiwan,
was founded in 1986 by Tzong-Ching
Ju. All members from
the Ju possess great skills in
playing Western percussion instruments, traditional Chinese
and other instruments of Asian music.
The JPG has
a wide range of repertoire, standard western classics, arrangement
of Taiwanese folk tunes and children songs.
The Group is a
lso
devoted in commissioning of contemporary music. Highlights of their commission projects including “Stiucgeua” by James Wood with the Amadinda
Percussion Group at the Budapest
Spring Festival in 2002, “Les douze
Lunes du serpent” with the Les
Percussions de Strasbourg (France) in 2001 and among
others. The
Group has toured extensively in countries such as the United States, Japan,
Korea,
France, Sweden,
Hungry, Germany,
Canada, Australia,
and Holland.
The
JPG has released 15 highly acclaimed recordings and two
of which were awarded the Golden Tripod Award, an
equivalent to the Grammy’s in Taiwan.
